The Sycamore Gap Tree is thought to be one of the most photographed trees in the United Kingdom and is thought to be hundreds of years old. The tree lies in a dip in the Whin Sill, along which Hadrian's Wall was built in 122 AD. In recent years the tree has become more and more popular having featured in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood, giving the tree it's nickname "The Robin Hood Tree", it's also featured in the ITV show "Vera" and Robson Greene's "Tales of Northumberland".
This photograph was taken in 2012 and shows Sycamore Gap on a sunny summers day.
